MS ARTVILLE 2019 addresses the topic of tomorrow:
More than 20 international and national artists as well as numerous up-and-coming artists will use their works of art to ask how we want to live tomorrow.
Tomorrow: – working between the poles of art, society and future.
The German translation for “tomorrow” is “morgen” – an ambiguity that MS ARTVILLE will debate this year and the forthcoming years.
“morgen” can be a greeting (“morning!”) as well as a reference to the period ahead. Using the diverse and creative possibilities of art, we are asking ourselves as well as you: How do we want to live tomorrow?
On a personal, global as well as on a social level, in the big picture and in small details. Justice, sustainability and social cohesion; individual convenience, dreams and fears; milestones, possibilities for participation and opportunities. However, we will not just ask what our future will look like – but are looking to perceive and establish potential to discuss, influence and design “tomorrow”. In this sense, “tomorrow:” isn’t just a contextual purpose. Instead it’s a holistic concept for all aspects of our festival. Thus, this topic will have a say in site and program design, communication and many other aspects.
MS ARTVILLE 2019 will be a home, experimental lab and a place for discourse for all these and even more questions and thoughts from July 20th until August 10th – afterwards, we can commence our tomorrow:
